چکیده

Diabetes, which causes oxidative stress-induced neuronal damage, is still one of the most important chronic health problems in world. It can cause serious cellular loss and damage throughout course disease. hypothesized that increased stress this process increases free reactive oxygen species (ROS) apoptotic markers diabetic damage. Alpha-Lipoic acid (α-LA), has a direct antioxidant effect ROS reduction reactions, also among main components system works for radical control apoptosis. To understand role α-LA reducing diabetes-induced we examined production brain cortex erythrocytes rats their effects on Forty adult Wistar albino were divided into four groups as control, α-LA, (DIA), DIA+α-LA. For induction diabetes, intraperitoneal injection dose streptozotocin (STZ) (45 mg/kg) was used. (50 applied to DIA+α-LA 14 days. At end experiment, tissue erythrocyte samples taken from rats. The levels apoptosis, caspase 3, 9, mitochondrial membrane potential, intracellular ROS, lipid peroxidation STZ group, although decreased group by α-LA. treatmentinduced decreases cell viability, reduced glutathione, glutathione peroxidase treatment In conclusion, diabetes acted caused We observed induced modulatory apoptotic, oxidant, parameters erythrocyte. neuroprotective may be explained its modulating activity against

Antioxidant effects of methionine, alpha-lipoic acid, N-acetylcysteine and homocysteine on lead-induced oxidative stress to erythrocytes in rats.

Lead, widely used in industry, is a great environmental health problem. Many studies have examined its effects on the health of both humans and animals. Experimental studies have shown that sulphur-containing antioxidants have beneficial effects against the detrimental properties of lead. The present study was designed to investigate markers of oxidative stress (hemoglobin (Hb) in whole blood, ...

Protective Effects of Alpha-lipoic Acid and Melatonin against Cadmium-induced Oxidative Stress in Erythrocytes of Rats

Cadmium (Cd) is a well-known human carcinogen and a potent nephrotoxin. The protective effects of alpha-lipoic acid and melatonin against cadmium (Cd) induced oxidative stress to erythrocytes in rats were evaluated. One hundred male albino rats were divided into five groups containing 20 rats each. Group I: (control) administered distilled water. Group II :( Cadmium exposed group) received cadm...

General oxidative stress during doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity in rats: absence of cardioprotection and low antioxidant efficiency of alpha-lipoic acid.

To evaluate the effects of alpha-lipoic acid (AL) in a model of doxorubicin (DOX)-induced cardiotoxicity, male Wistar rats were treated with DOX (1 mg/kg/d; 10 d) in combination or not with AL (50 mg/kg/d; 15 d). Plasma oxidative stress was determined by hydroperoxides (ROOH) and the ascorbyl radical/ascorbate ratio. One and two months later, the functional parameters of the hearts were determi...

Prevention of chromate induced oxidative stress by alpha-lipoic acid.

The parenteral administration of alpha-lipoic acid (LA) protected against chromate induced oxidative stress in mouse liver. A shift in Cr induced pro-oxidant state to antioxidant-state by LA was noteworthy. The degree of protection was significant and similar in different LA administration regimens (prior-, co- and post- parenteral Cr exposure) explored. An improved status of the tissue antioxi...
